About the event
Marnie Gustavson's roots extend further than the Pacific Northwest. Raised in Seattle and Kitsap County, Gustavson spent a number of her formative years in Afghanistan. After helping women secure work back in Seattle as an adult, Gustavson returned to Kabul in 2006 to become Executive Director of PARSA, a grassroots organization working to support Afghan communities by engaging in youth leadership, economic empowerment, and social protection.
After the Taliban regained control of Kabul in 2021, PARSA pivoted its direction and launched new initiatives, putting girls at the forefront due to imposed regulations on their livelihoods, especially in the ability to attend school. Gustavson will provide insight into what's next for PARSA and the future for women and girls in Afghanistan.
Zoom details will be sent via email after registration.
