OUR WORK
Consular Association Reception
The Consular Association Reception (CAR) is an annual event hosted by the World Affairs Council of Tacoma to honor members of the Washington Consular Association -- individuals who serve their home country's interests and further global development across Washington. Hosted since 1988, this event celebrates the relationships that position Washington State as a leader in economic, trade and cultural exchange. The CAR honors the ties that bind us and the individuals dedicated to this work.
Speaker Series
The World Affairs Council of Tacoma is proud to present our annual Speakers Series, featuring distinguished guest speakers such as international figures, academics, business professionals, and journalists. Supported by our partnerships with Tacoma Creates and Bellarmine Preparatory School, our Speakers Series provides the opportunity for participants to engage in meaningful discussions about world affairs.
The Tacoma Immigrant Stories Project
The Tacoma Immigrant Stories Project is an ongoing initiative from the World Affairs Council of Tacoma to record, capture and present the experiences of Tacoma immigrants in their own words. From the date of Tacoma's incorporation as a city immigrants have contributed to the character and vitality of the community. These brief interviews are intended to raise awareness of the immigrant experience in Tacoma and the contributions that immigrants make to our city.
